Towards more sustainable building based on modified Portland cements through partial substitution by engineered feldspars

Global warming is one of the main problems that facing modern civilization. As buildings consume 40% total energy, heating in cities a primary concern. Therefore, it seeks to improve sustainable construction materials with better thermal and reflective properties, reducing consumption heat islands. In this work, mineral engineered feldspars have been used as partial substitution white cement, widely cladding façades mainly due its high whiteness, composites’ reflectance their conductivity. Both show pozzolanic effect new composites superior whiteness (greater than12%). Moreover, feldspar avoids alkali-silica reaction (ASR) spite alkaline content. A reduction greater than 2 °C after 6 h solar irradiance demonstrated for composite resulting good alternative implementation exterior insulation finish systems.
